VES Hosts Pi Day at University of Toledo

Updated: Mar 18

We were happy to host the University of Toledo’s Pi Day event on March 14. VES supplied Raspberry Pi boards, along with actual pie, and led a student challenge, which involved developing a Python-based AI Assistant. Students programmed voice recognition software to control LED lights, change colors and toggle between on/off states. Special thanks to Brad Lilly, Brian McKenzie, Eric Smith, and Elliot Stiene from the VES team, all University of Toledo alumni, for making this a success!

We’d also like to thank Engineering College Computing, including Jonathan Rethorn, Jeremy Garber, and Evan Stewart (one of our co-op students!) for providing essential setup support. We greatly appreciate Dr. Lesley Berhan and Adam Kiersey for helping set up and promote the event to students. It was also wonderful to visit the EECS department and reconnect with faculty, including Dr. Liang Cheng, Dr. Richard Molyet, and Christie Hennen.
